Garage Sale Girl

Have I ever mentioned my LOVE for garage sales?
It started as a young toddler when my mom would take my siblings and I. She would give each of us a few dollars and let us spend it on whatever we wanted. I usually blew mine at the first sale and my brother would save his thinking there might be something better at the next; and most times at the end of the day he still had his money and wanted to go back to a previous one to see if they still had the Ninja Turtle.

Well although I no longer garage sale with my mom and siblings, I now go with my own little toddler! We have a blast and for a 2 year old she is actually a lot of fun to take along! Over the past 2 weeks of hitting the sales I have noticed a trend starting with her...                                          Sunglasses!

Well it's OK because my trend is furniture! Look what I brought home:
Solid wood and great shape just not enhanced.
I started as soon as I got it in the door, I didn't want to loose my creative buzz...created from a fun morning of garage sales! Here she is primed.
With two coats of a custom mixed, antique white paint now dry I decided to paint on some roman numerals in a clock format. They aren't perfectly even but I think it adds more character! Then I sanded them lightly to add age.
Next the whole piece was distressed and then given a dark wax treatment.
Would you check out the legs on her...the table that is!

And one more time just in case you forced yourself to forget her boring before picture here it is again:
Here is the diva after! Love her!

What great things have you found at garage sales lately? Let me know in the comment section with a link to your blog and I would love to check it out!

    1. Thank you Cindy! For taking the time to comment and for welcoming me into your link party! We sure love garage sales and I am happy to pass down a "thrifty" gene to my little one. Why spend big money on something that you can find for less?

  2. Great job! The more you go to the sales, the more stuff you will put into a "someday I will need this pile" and then be able to create even more projects.
    Your daughter is adorable!

  3. This is so cute! And I totally feel ya on the lack of space to store stuff - we live in an apartment and I'm starting to worry about hoarders finding us. Kidding. Kinda. :)
