If you do any surfing through the crafty corner of the Internet at all then you are probably aware that CHEVRON is all the craze! I never really jumped on that band wagon but have seen so many projects done using the print, weather it be fabric or paint.
I came across this cute little console table and it had the right price so I gladly took it home. It was very dated but that didn't deter me. I scrubbed it clean and yes even scraped off chewed gum from under the top...ewwww!! Thankfully my hot soapy water took care of the coodies! (OK is it just me that still believes in coodies?)
However the piece was structurally sound so that was a bonus!
I coated the entire stand with my trusty primer:
Then after the primer was dry I gave it 3 coats of deep grey and the door 2 coats of black. Once that was dry I cut out an arrow shape and began to trace it onto the top with chalk. This is time consuming and very tedious, you want to make sure all the spaces between your painted zig-zag's are the same distance. I colored in a few lines with some chalk to be sure I knew which ones I was painting and which ones I was leaving.
Next I taped off my chalk lines and gave it 2 coats of the black. Once this was dry I pealed off the tape and waxed the entire top to seal in the design.
Here is the finished product!
I really like the detail this chevron brings to the piece.
It also has these gorgeous panels on the sides, door and around the base.
So sad, dated table....
You have been given a happy, modern, second chance! I hope you enjoy your new home, wherever that may be.
Very cute! Love the chevron! Come to my party and link it up!
