An Eyesore Made Beautiful

Two posts in one week, I'm on a roll!

This post is brought to you by this:

A complete and utter EYESORE!! It came to live with us last year...that's my new way of saying I brought a new piece of furniture (I don't need) into the house just so I could save it.

It was missing the shelf and doors, the back was falling off and it was just screaming "I used to hold a TV in the 80's".
I let it sit in our basement for almost a year! So embarrassed by it, that at my daughters birthday party I hid it under the table that held the food and threw a table cloth over it!!

Enough was enough. The time had come, make it over or pass it on. I went with the first option.

Here it is with her second coat of blue drying.

I was rummaging through my pile of stencils and came across this zero. I thought if I staggered it randomly it may look half decent. So I grabbed some chalk and traced it out.

With the stencil finished I lightly distressed it and gave it a nice coat of dark wax.

It is now the perfect spot to display our handmade wedding quilt. Eventually I would still like to add in a shelf and some proper baskets. But for now I would have to say the eyesore is gone!
